Danzy Senna is an author of Afro-Mexican and Irish heritage. Ms. Senna comes from a family of writers; her father, mother and aunt are writers. Ms. Senna is also married to an author; Percival Everett. Ms. Senna received a B.A. from Stanford University graduating with honors. Going on to the University of California-Irvine Campus she received her MFA in creative writing. Her first novel Caucasia, a story about two bi-racial sisters, was published in 1999. The book was such a success that she took a two year hiatus from writing. Ms. Senna also has written essays about race, gender and identity.
