<description>As a mixed multi-ethnic citizen I felt confused by the &quot;Yearning To Be Mixed&quot;. I don't think most mixed Americans grow up feeling like the treasure on the island. No one group will openly and readily accept you because of the obvious variations in appearance, speech, and such. However, do I think all our problems would disappear if everyone was the same race or of the same mixed race, no not neccessarily. Problems exist in cut off lands where all look alike, poverty, greed, wanting to be better than others. These are problems we have as human beings not as cultural devices of a specific group. We need compassion. We need respect. We need a warmer and softer heart without the judging eyes. Because I am mixed with Black, White/German, Native American Indian and French, alot of people were'nt sure if I was Black/Japanese or what. Yes it's true, I got that alot in school. We need not treat or question a persons heritage or culture, we need to embrace, extend respect, and truly be happy we all are related and share responsibilities for maintaining the planet and assisting our neighbors.
